Textured baseball caps provide opportunities to mix and match fabrics.

According to Letam “Ley” Duson, founder of Ley All Day Personal Styling, textured baseball caps are trending for 2024.

“They not only help bring a look together, but the different available textures (corduroy, wool, twill, cashmere, etc.) give options ideal for mixing and matching,” she told BI.

As a bonus, the stylist said they work for a wider range of head shapes compared to other hat styles.

Floral accessories are having a moment.

Oversized floral accessories are another popular look, according to Michelle Barrett, personal stylist and founder of Capsule Closet Stylist.

She recommended putting them in your hair or wearing them as earrings or a necklace — the bigger, the better.

When styling the pieces, Barrett told BI that it’s important to keep the rest of your outfit simple to help the accessory stand out.

Bold belts add personality to any outfit.

Kara Allen, celebrity stylist and brand-image consultant, said belts featuring unique designs, vibrant colors, or striking buckles are a fashion yes.

“Bold belts are an easy way to inject personality into any outfit, making a strong style statement,” she told BI.

Layered bracelets can add texture and dimension to your outfit.

Beaded bracelets have been popular lately.

Instead of wearing a single bracelet, Scratch recommended layering to add texture and dimension to your outfit.

“The bracelets can be made of various materials such as beads, leather, metal, and fabric, and you can mix and match different styles to create a unique look,” the stylist told BI.

Bucket hats are making a comeback.

Bucket hats continue to gain popularity, according to Scratch, largely due to their versatility. The casual hats can be worn with a variety of outfits.

“They are a great accessory for both men and women and can add a touch of style to any outfit,” the stylist told BI. “Plus, they’re practical.”

Envelope clutches are chic and practical.

Envelope clutches are a popular bag pick this year, according to Duson. They’re chic and practical, allowing you to carry all your essentials.

The stylist added that they also come in a variety of designs.

“Some are only handheld, while others come with a strap, allowing for multiple ways to wear them, day or night,” she told BI.

On the other hand, slouchy beanies can appear too casual.

Loose, relaxed-fit beanies are often associated with a casual and juvenile look, according to both Allen and Duson.

Although they’re functional for cold weather, they usually aren’t doing your outfit any favors.

Instead, Allen recommended trying a structured, tailored beanie for a more polished look.

Dainty necklaces are being overshadowed by statement chains.

According to Duson, dainty, thin-chain necklaces with small pendants or charms are out.

As a replacement, Allen recommended trying a statement chain. The bold, oversized accessory adds a touch of glamor and confidence to any outfit.

Understated watches are giving way to bolder designs.

According to Allen, simple timepieces with clean, minimalist designs are out, and bold and elaborate designs are on the rise.

The stylist recommended choosing a watch that features unique dials, textures, and details.

Say goodbye to hoards of faux-fur accessories.

Faux fur was trendy for a while, but the synthetic fabric is losing traction.

According to Barrett, it’s time to put away your faux-fur bags, shoes, and other accessories.

“Leave the faux fur at home, and replace it with metallic bags or woven raffia styles,” the stylist told BI.

Slim scarves are too subtle for 2024.

Opt for a chunky scarf for a maximalist look instead.

Allen said thin scarves — typically worn around the neck as a subtle accessory — are no longer trending.

This year, you can expect to see bolder, more voluminous scarves across the fashion scene.

“Opt for a chunky knit scarf or a patterned oversized version for a more statement-worthy accessory,” the stylist told BI.

Bulky bifold wallets are fading in popularity.

Sleek wallets are on the rise this year.

Bulky, bifold wallets that fold in half are officially out, according to Duson.

Instead, the stylist recommended opting for a slim card case that can hold your essentials.

“They’re sleek, compact, and you can carry your cards and cash in style,” Duson told BI.
