Businesses offer special deals to veterans, active-duty military | News, Sports, Jobs


Several area restaurants are offering special Veterans Day thank-yous to veterans and active duty personnel on Thursday. That list in our area includes:

– Texas Roadhouse, 100 Mall Drive, Steubenville, will distribute meal vouchers in the parking lot between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Proof of service, which can include a military or VA card or discharge papers, will be required. The vouchers, which will be valid through May 30, can be redeemed for one of 10 entrees including a 6-ounce sirloin and two sides plus a choice of any Coca-Cola product, sweet tea/iced tea or coffee.

– McDonald’s Restaurants across the Tri-State Area are offering a free breakfast, lunch or dinner meal. The free breakfast is a Sausage McMuffin with Egg meal, which comes with a small soft drink, tea or hot coffee and a hash brown. The free lunch or dinner option includes a 10-piece Chicken McNugget meal, which comes with a small size soft drink, tea or hot coffee and a small order of fries. Proper identification will be required. Guests should bring a military ID card, DD-214 form, veterans organization card or a photograph of themselves in uniform.

– Bob Evans Restaurants will offer a special menu of seven meals to veterans and active duty military for no charge for dine-in only. Beverages are not included. Proof of service includes U.S. Uniformed Services ID Card, U.S. Uniformed Services Retired Card, current leave and earnings statement, veterans organization card (i.e. American Legion, VFW), photograph of yourself in uniform, wearing uniform, DD214 and citation or commendation.

– Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar will offer all active military, veterans and members of the Reserves and National Guard a complimentary full-size entre from a special menu. Beverages are not included. They also will receive a card worth $5 off a dine-in, delivery or to-go meal during the next three weeks. Proper identification required.

– Eat ‘n Park Restaurants are offering all former and current military personnel a 10 percent discount for themselves and their entire party each time they dine in during the month of November. Proper identification or presenting in uniform is required. All veterans dining in on Thursday also will receive a free smiley cookie.

– Kings Family Restaurants are offering a free meal from a special menu to veterans with proper identification and active military personnel.
