Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks has confirmed a major character death in tonight’s (September 8) E4 first-look episode, as the soap revealed the identity of the person Toby attacked in Room 13.
In last night’s episode, Toby (Bobby Gordon) was seen entering the grooms’ room and attacking a figure under a duvet in a fit of rage.
While viewers were led to believe the mystery figure could be Mitchell Deveraux, it was soon revealed that a superstitious Mitchell had swapped rooms with someone else, not wanting to be in Room 13.
Instead, Toby and his sister Celeste (Andrea Ali) were horrified to learn that Toby had instead attacked Lisa Loveday (Rachel Adedeji), and set about covering up what happened.
As the wedding party moved across to the Dog, Celeste and Toby were seen burying Lisa’s body before returning to their flat and vowing to not tell anybody about what had happened.
The siblings were later granted a temporary reprieve when the wedding guests believed that Lisa had fled to Ibiza, but with the villagers now facing police questioning about Lisa’s whereabouts and Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood) confronting Celeste at the end of the episode, how long will they be able to keep Lisa’s death under wraps?
Rachel Adedeji’s Hollyoaks exit was confirmed back in June, when it was also confirmed that the star had filmed her exit before the soap’s coronavirus-related production halt back in March.
“Rachel made the decision to leave Hollyoaks to pursue other opportunities earlier last year, which saddened us at Hollyoaks as she is one of the leading cast members in the show,” a Hollyoaks spokesperson said at the time.
“However, the notice period did allow the writers time to give Lisa Loveday an extremely gripping exit storyline.”
Rachel’s spokesperson said: “It had always been our intention for Rachel to leave the show after a period of time. She loved her time on Hollyoaks, and the exit storyline was openly discussed with the producers and her together in a collaborative format.”
Hollyoaks airs weekdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes at 7pm on E4.
