Hundreds of residents in Lake Charles now have care packages from two Lafayette businesses.
Employees from Audi Lafayette and the Skin Loft Med Spa handed out bottle water, cleaning supplies and other essential items.
Mandie Harrington, Audi Lafayette’s marketing manager said, “The biggest message I want to send is don’t forget about the people of Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana. The need is greater than ever.”
The businesses also partnered up with a cooking crew from Baton Rouge to serve hot meals.
“Everyone is so grateful. They’re thanking us, hugging us and showing this outpouring of love.”
Harrington describes being in Lake Charles as “sobering.” She said, “Every street has damage. As far as you can see, it’s blue tarps and debris at the roads. These people don’t have power and many of them don’t have running water. The need is absolutely paramount now more than ever. We can’t forget about the people here. The road to rebuilding will be a journey.”
Three trailers of supplies were distributed. Harrington says residents will need our support for months to come.
“If you maybe think you’ve missed your chance to help, you absolutely haven’t,” Harrington said. “These people are going to need our help for the upcoming weeks and months while they try to rebuild and get their lives back together.”
