Lily-Rose Depp Pulls a Fashion Faux Pas on the Red Carpet—and Wins

Thought that tights and sandals were a fashion faux pas? Not according to Lily-Rose Depp. The gorgeous actress wore the combo last night at the premiere of L’homme Fidele (The Faithful Man) in Paris. Depp, who stars in the film alongside Louis Garrel and model-turned-actress Laetitia Casta, took to the red carpet in a floral print scoop-neck top, cropped faded blue jeans, and a pair of black pantyhose that slightly peeked out above the waistband of her pants. She accessorized the ensemble with black velvet platform sandals that put her semi-sheer legwear on full display.

The rule-breaking styling trick first started bubbling up on the runway a couple of years ago with brands such as Balenciaga, Celine, and Saint Laurent all proposing strappy sandals with a kaleidoscope of colorful hosiery. (It has been a subject of great debate over at Vogue.com ever since.) Earlier this year, Bella Hadid pulled a similar footwear maneuver, pairing her chic white skirt suit with a pair of Dior sandals and plain white socks. As for Depp’s take? She proved with her usual laid back flair, that all it takes to put your best foot forward is a little French girl attitude. Bien sûr!
