Queen Elizabeth loves a monochrome look, so it’s no surprise that she matched her dress to her coat and hat for yesterday’s major event: her granddaughter’s royal wedding.
For the big day, the Queen opted for a mint green coat and color-coordinated hat, which featured red and pink flower adornments. Under the coat, it seems that she wore a patterned dress, though she left her coat on and buttoned for all photos. Finishing off the look, the monarch accessorized with white gloves, pearl earrings, a pearl necklace, black patent pumps, and a black handbag.
Fastened to her lapel was an intricate brooch, featuring two flowers made of rose gold and diamonds. According to The Court Jeweller, the brooch is a newer addition to the Queen’s vast jewelry collection, gifted to her around her 2012 Diamond Jubilee.
It was a perfectly stylish look for the occasion: Princess Beatrice’s and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s wedding. The couple tied the knot in a small private ceremony on the grounds of Windsor Castle. The Queen and Prince Philip both attended the event, though complied with all social distancing protocols in order to stay safe.
And while Beatrice’s ceremony was main event on Friday, it wasn’t the only one. While investiture ceremonies have been paused due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Queen made an exception to knight Captain Tom Moore, a former British Army officer, who raised more than $37 million for UK health workers in the lead up to his 100th birthday. She wore the same mint green outfit to perform the ceremony.
