Social Media Influencer Opens Clothing Store In The West Village

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Arielle Charnas has over a million followers on Instagram, and now she also has a clothing store in the West Village.

Charnas’ flagship boutique, Something Navy, opened this week at 379 Bleecker Street in Lower Manhattan.

Along with her work as a social media influencer, Charnas is also known for her fashion blog and a line of clothing apparel she launched with Nordstrom in 2018. The first day of sales at the Seattle-based department store chain generated more than $4.4 million, according to Nordstrom.

In July, Charnas announced she was relaunching the brand on her own. The decision to open a clothing-retail store comes despite massive losses in the retail market due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has already caused stores such as J. Crew, Brooks Brother, J.C. Penney, and Lucky Brand to file for bankruptcy.

The West Village Something Navy opened with a variety of coronavirus related safety measures, including a strict mask policy, no walk-ins allowed, no more than four people accepted per each 20-minute time slot, and a commitment to cleaning and sanitizing the store.

Even the store’s clothing selections seems to have a coronavirus related theme, with a significant selection of hoodies, sweats, shorts, and other work from home type leisure items.
