Review: Rapha’s Trail Pants & Knee Pads Are Impossibly Comfy

Who remembers mountain biking before riding pants were a thing? Our shorts were too long, our socks were too short, and I’m pretty sure I was too cold and wet all the time. Smart riders had been wearing heavy moto-style pants for years, of course, but these days we’ve got plenty of bike-specific options to choose from, including the new $180 USD Trail pants from Rapha that are reviewed below. Rapha is known for its high-end stretchy road kit and classy colors, and 2021 saw them debut an entire range of clothing for mountain bikers. I took a closer

Best Hiking Pants for Men (Review & Buying Guide) in 2021

Some of you may be surprised to learn that the best hiking pants for men are not heavy utility uniform trousers. After logging more miles than I care to remember in pants that felt like canvas lined with sandpaper, I’m thrilled to report that you don’t have to endure such trauma on your own time. Good hiking pants are light, strong, comfortable, and can keep you dry. They come in all kinds of styles so you can find the perfect pair for through hikes, day hikes, hunting trips, days at the range, or even the nine-to-five slog. Some of them

From pandemic to pandemonium, this is the fashion year in review

Mapping the peaks, pitfalls, and Patrizias, here’s our definitive guide to WTF actually happened in 2021 Over and over this year we’ve heard the refrain of the ‘the return’. Of the red carpet. Of the in-person runway. Of fashion season street style. Of glamour. Of wearing absolutely any other clothes than dirty, overdue-a-wash joggers. But what did the year in fashion actually look like as we emerged bleary-eyed from isolation?  There was logomania at Fendi, Balenciaga, Gucci and Versace, who spliced, diced and cross-pollinated their unmistakable monikers, and the chaos of Paris, Milan, New York, and London’s fashion weeks reigned

Review: Stylish ‘Nightmare Alley’ a cautionary ‘spook’ show from de Torro

Cate Blanchett and Bradley Cooper in Nightmare Alley / Fox Searchlight “Nightmare Alley” is the stylish and evocative new film by Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro that works as an adaptation of William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel as well as a remake of director Edmund Goulding’s 1947 original which starred Tyrone Power, Joan Blondell, Helen Walker, and Collen Gray. The movie is hauntingly gorgeous under del Toro’s directorship with a lush, bold color palette that gives the film a classic yet lurid feel. The art design takes us back to the Dust Bowl bottom up the Great Depression in

Review: POC’s New Waterproof Dungarees & Pants

A little while ago we received the literature for the new season’s clothing from Swedish clothing manufacturer POC. There was one garment that stood out – the Consort MTB Dungaree. Before we get into what these are like to ride in, let’s just address some things straight off the bat. First, they’re expensive at $500 USD. Second, the expression of ice-cold irreverence that the model wore in the promotional materials was not one that I felt encapsulated how I felt when I wore them. In fact, it would be hard to say that I felt the word “cool” would be

Samsung 50-inch The Frame QLED 4K Smart TV (2021) Review: Elegant design, punchy colours

Samsung’s The Frame has been one of the most unique TVs available in the market with the ability to use the TV literally as a picture frame on the wall when not in use. Since the launch of the first generation of the Frame, we have seen a number of TV manufacturers offer a variety of ambient modes including the ability to use your TV as a picture frame. But the one thing that set Samsung’s The Frame apart from the competition was its unique bezels that make the TV look like a real frame, the one connect box that
